I did not realize that the photographer was taking this beautiful photo while I was myself walking down the alley in this old part of our home town. What I find noticeable is the contrast between the cold, beautiful geometry of the cobble stones and the derelict aspect of the wall on the right hand side of the ancient XVII century buildings.
The circular pattern of the manhole both recalls and opposes the square/rectangular pattern of the cobbles. The manhole looks like an outlet from hell toward the sun at the end of the alley - a dantesque entrance. Congrats! Mariangela
I was born in Salerno, Italy.
My main current photographic interest is to produce images where patterns, shapes and geometries often play a central role.

Meravigliosa! Che senso di profondità!
Very nicely done. Beautiful use of focus.
Different point of view, nice and original shot.
I like this silhouette in this depth.
